LakesideYES is a group of local citizens working to form a new city in North/Central DeKalb County, Georgia.
We’re mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, grandparents and friends, engineers, business people, social workers, plumbers, teachers, students, accountants, nurses, retirees and more. Most importantly, we’re your neighbors -- volunteers working to make our community a better place.
Join us to create:
-- A new city which recognizes its citizens are more innovative, engaged and productive when they are safe;
-- A new city which is large enough to create efficient operations for its citizens but small enough to maintain healthy relationships and the engagement of its citizens and avoid yet another bureaucratic layer of government;
-- A new city which is grounded on principles of disciplined stewardship. Disciplined to reflect the conservative fiscal values established by its citizens over the last half-century but driven by a progressive stewardship and compassion designed to ensure its citizens basic needs are met;
-- A new city which seeks first to utilize the private and individual resources found in abundance within the community, utilizing the government as its last choice.
-- A new city which celebrates its rich tradition of diversity. Valuing its history of being home to an early enclave of African American freed slaves in Oak Grove, as well as a suburban community that has welcomed a myriad of citizens from across the country and throughout the world, we embrace our continued growing diversity of cultural, ethnic, faith and lifestyle traditions and pledge to value and respect those differences in order to create a stronger community fabric;
-- A new city which fosters a love of lifelong learning. With its proximity to major world-class universities, the Centers for Disease Control, vibrant faith-centered institutions, and strong public and private K-12 schools, our city will actively promote life-long learning as a core value.
